Guest Post on How to Safely Lose More Weight Every Week

For most experts, losing 1-2 lbs per week is ideal if you want to keep the weight off long-term. However, when you start to lose weight you will find that you don’t actually lose 1-2 lbs per week at a steady rate. You will initially experience a steep weight drop, followed by a plateau period, and a continued decline.

If 1-2 lbs of weight loss per week is considered safe, are shows like The Biggest Loser and Celebrity Fit Club jeopardizing their contestants' safety by encouraging maximum weight loss each week?
We’re definitely amazed by how quickly these contestants lose as much weight as possible each week. Everyone loves a quick fix.

While it may seem extreme for some, it is certainly possible to safely lose more than 2 lbs each week, especially if you already have more weight to lose to begin with.

Aside from pushing yourself physically and eating a healthy diet, here are more weight loss tips you can add to your weight loss plan to help you lose more than 1-2 lbs each week safely.

Cut the sugar. Cutting added sugar like soda, snacks, pastries, and processed foods will help you lose weight faster than just increasing you exercise alone. A can of soda has 39 grams of sugar, which has about 140 calories. If you drink three servings a day, you're getting close to 3,000 calories per week from soda alone. You can lose an extra pound or so every ten days if you eliminate that much calories.

Stay away from grains. Many people are sensitive to gluten but do not even know it. Gluten is a protein found in wheat and other grains. It gives wheat its elasticity. For some, the high-fiber content in grains can irritate their digestive tract, causing excessive gas and bloating. People with undiagnosed digestive problems may lose extra weight by eliminating grains entirely from their diet.

Decrease sodium intake. Excess sodium in the body can contribute to water retention leading to weight gain. Eating unhealthy food, especially fast food items can cause you to exceed the 1,500 mg daily limit set by the National Institute of Health. When you decrease sodium in your diet, you'll get rid of water weight, which can lead to more weight loss.

Drink herbal tea. Drinking tea helps boost metabolism to help you lose weight. Tea contains EGCG, a compound which increases the rate and efficiency of fat-burning. Components in tea extracts also contain natural appetite suppressants, helping you keep away from mindless eating.

Switch to high intensity interval training. Increasing workout intensity will help you burn more calories leading to faster weight loss. High intensity interval training also does a better job of toning and firming up your body to help you build more muscles and get rid of loose skin.
